ANDREW YORK COLLECTION

1990 Eric Sahlin, Cedar/Brazilian #113

Historical collage featuring Andrew York, LAGQ, and the 1990 Eric Sahlin guitar

Provenance

This guitar came to me in 1990, just as my path as both composer and performer was expanding onto the world stage. With this guitar I made my debut at Ambassador Auditorium, one of the finest halls in the United States and among the most prestigious concert series on the West Coast. It was a milestone, not my first concert, but a defining moment that signaled a new chapter – one of international recognition and artistic maturity.

Over the next five years, my Sahlin traveled with me across the world, accompanying me on extensive international tours with LAGQ and as a soloist. We crossed continents together, playing in halls from Europe to Asia to the Americas.

I composed many of my most substantial mid-stage works on this Sahlin, pieces that solidified my repertoire and carried my compositional voice forward. Several solo and ensemble albums were recorded with this guitar, making the voice of my 1990 Sahlin indelibly imprinted into the music of that era.
