Provenance
This guitar is of unspecified date, though I think I have had it since the mid 1990s. I have looked inside with a mirror for a date, but have been unable to locate one, and since David Daily has passed on, I have no way to verify this guitar’s date of construction. But it has been with me for many years. I do remember David speaking about this instrument being in the style of a Torres, with the same bracing pattern and construction. I have used this guitar for limited touring, and it has appeared for a selection of pieces on the later Delos recording by LAGQ, and one or two tracks on our Sony CD. This guitar is a testament to David Daily’s boundless artistic curiosity - he was not only continually pushing boundaries for refining and experimenting with traditional guitar techniques, but also occasionally building in the style of older masters. I believe David may have built this guitar when he went to Spain to learn from Antonio Marín. Even though David was already a master builder, he was always willing to continue learning and his time with Marín helped him enhance and deepen his already world-class skills.
